What Are JoyDrops?

A JoyDrop is a deliberate act of kindness that creates a recognizable moment of human connection. Not a random act — a deliberate one. One that says: I thought about you. I made time for you. You were worth this.

A JoyDrop might be a handwritten note tucked into a stranger's grocery bag. It might be a message sent to someone who changed your life a decade ago and never knew it. It might be a small gesture — a coffee left for the person behind you in line, a flower placed on a doorstep, a text that says simply: "I've been thinking about you. You matter."

The mechanism is simple. The impact is not. Research in positive psychology consistently shows that small, unexpected acts of kindness have outsized effects on the recipient's sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing. For someone living with isolation — which describes hundreds of millions of people worldwide — a single moment of being seen can shift the entire emotional trajectory of a day. Sometimes of a week. Sometimes of a life.

During World Love Week, the SeenWithLove Foundation coordinates, amplifies, and enables JoyDrops at scale. We create the tools, templates, and community infrastructure that make it easy for anyone to participate — and we make sure the people who most need to be seen are specifically targeted to receive them.

JoyDrops reach seniors in assisted living facilities who haven't had a visitor in months. They reach LGBTQ+ youth who feel unseen in their schools and neighborhoods. They reach veterans who wonder if anyone outside their unit understands what they've been through. They reach caregivers who have been so focused on giving that they've forgotten what it feels like to receive.

What It Takes

World Love Week is expanding — reaching wider audiences across more countries, more communities, and more of the populations that need to be seen most urgently. That expansion requires resources.

We run World Love Week with intention and care. Every activity is designed to maximize the human impact of each dollar donated. We do not spend on overhead when we can spend on reach. We do not build bureaucracy when we can build connection. Our activities during World Love Week include:

    Creating Free Digital JoyDrop Tools

    We design and build free templates, message generators, and participation guides that make it easy for anyone — anywhere in the world — to participate in World Love Week and deliver their own JoyDrops.

    Operating The Daily Hug Program

    During World Love Week, The Daily Hug expands its reach with additional outreach, special editions, and dedicated campaigns targeting the most isolated populations in our community.

    Global Outreach and Community Engagement

    We conduct outreach to community organizations, senior facilities, LGBTQ+ centers, and veteran programs to make sure World Love Week reaches the communities that need it most.

    Partner and Funder Coordination

    We build the partnerships that allow JoyDrops to be delivered at institutional scale — working with facilities, community organizations, and corporate partners who share our conviction that visibility matters.

How Your Support Is Used

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, the SeenWithLove Foundation is accountable to both the law and the communities we serve. Every dollar contributed to World Love Week is directed toward activities that expand the reach and impact of our programs.
